Lithuanian MEP Petras Austrevicius has said that the European Union expects all signatories of the EU-proposed April 19 Agreement to implement it thoroughly.

"The EU expects all signatories to implement the reached agreement thoroughly and in a timely manner. Georgia’s credibility will depend on how the agreement is implemented," Austrevicius told the Accent.

"The EU's efforts to bring Georgia's political parties together and help to find a way out of the political crisis are a confirmation of the EU's seriousness and commitment towards its Associated partners," he added.

The chair of Georgia’s largest opposition party, the United National Movement (UNM), was freed from pre-trial detention after the EU had posted his bail.

"Paying a bail for Mr Melia was an exception, which represents a serious commitment from the EU side to help Georgia to overcome the political crisis," Austrevicius said.
