
Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey sign joint documents related to the improvement of the capacity of the Middle Corridor

Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili together with the Georgian government delegation participated in a quadrilateral meeting related to the development of the the Middle Corridor.
The meeting of the delegations of Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey was held in Aktau, Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, "participants of the meeting agreed to develop the infrastructural components and operational directions of the Middle Corridor."
"In his speech, the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia focused on the important steps taken in recent years to improve the effectiveness of the Middle Corridor. According to him, compared to 2014, when the movement of container trains through the Middle Corridor started, in 2021 a significant increase was observed and China-Europe container shipments through Georgia exceeded 10 thousand TEU.
According to Levan Davitashvili, it is important to develop infrastructure and other directions related to the corridor. He focused on the necessity of digitalization of transport routes and corridors on the Black Sea.
Representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey expressed their readiness to jointly take measures to increase the effectiveness and attractiveness of the Middle Corridor.
Within the framework of the meeting, documents were signed regarding the specific activities determined to improve the capacity of the Middle Corridor," the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development said in a statement.
The Middle Corridor begins in Turkey and passes through the Caucasus region via Georgia and Azerbaijan, crosses the Caspian Sea, traverses Central Asia and reaches China.
